This is my second collaboration with Lena, who has also written with my friend Elton Smith at Songs of Praise. Lena sent me the initial words and music, and I rewrote portions of the words and music. This song would be useful as part of an Easter drama, at the point where Jesus is on the cross. Perhaps the disciple John, who was there with Mary at the foot of the cross, would sing it to her as a solo. Be sure to also visit Lena's website at www.our.homewithgod.com/lakcope/

(verse 1)
Oh, Mary, don't you weep and mourn
Though the final hour has come,
For though your son be crucified,
The vic'try will be won.

You held Him as a little child
Long before He knew this pain,
Yet though He breath His last and die,
Your son will live again!

(refrain)
And through His humble sacrifice
Our souls may be reborn!
Oh, Mary, don't you weep for Him,
Oh, Mary don't you mourn.

(verse 1)
Your child is the Son of God,
So much more than just a man,
Though in this hour of trial and pain,
It's hard to understand.

And yet your son was born to die
As our sacrificial Lamb.
Far more than just the Son of Man,
He is the great "I AM!"

(refrain)
And through His humble sacrifice
Our souls may be reborn!
Oh, Mary, don't you weep for Him,
Oh, Mary, don't you mourn,
...Don't you mourn.
