Steve and I wrote this song especially for the betrothal ceremony of Marji and Randy. Actually, there are two versions, one for the betrothal, and the other for the wedding. If you recall the Lord's Supper, where Jesus invited his disciples to partake of the cup of wine, this was in keeping with the tradition of the offering and acceptance of a cup of wine between bridegroom and His prospective bride. The betrothal is followed by a period of time in which the bridegroom leaves to prepare a place for his bride, who has been set apart for him, after which time he returns to take his bride away and complete the marriage. In the same way, our Lord is preparing us a dwelling, and will soon return to take us, the Bride of Christ, to His home, at which time the marriage of Christ and His bride shall be completed. You may also recall that, at the time that Joseph was told by an angel of Mary's pregnancy, that he and Mary were betrothed, prior to the consummation of their marriage.

The name "Jesus" can easily be substituted for "Y'shua". Simply hold the last syllable of the previous word instead of singing the "Y-" syllable, then substitute "Je-sus" for the last 2 syllables "-shu-a". I suggest that you sing a dotted-quarter then an eighth note for "Je-sus", which is the reverse of the rhythm written for "-shu-a".

[Betrothal lyrics]

(verse)

Here in your presence today
My heart pledging only to you
From now til eternity comes
I promise my love to be true.

As Y'shua gave all for His bride
As He loved her in measure unknown
And gave up His life
Sparing nothing to make her His own...
His very own.

(refrain)
I will pour out my heart to you
As He poured out His life for me.
Consecrated with you in love,
Set apart we will be

I'm preparing a place in my heart
As He's preparing a dwelling above.
And together we'll find,
One in spirit and mind,
The fullness of heaven-sent love...

(musical interlude)

As we join in betrothal today
Lord Y'shua stands here by our side
His promise is sure
That forever with us He'll abide...
He will abide.

(refrain)
I will pour out my heart to you
As He poured out His life for me.
Consecrated with you in love,
Set apart we will be

I'm preparing a place in my heart
As He's preparing a dwelling above.
And together we'll find,
One in spirit and mind,
The fullness of heaven-sent love

(Bridge)
I will pour out my heart,
Not sparing the cost,
As Y'shua gave all in redeeming the lost.
I am pledging my heart, He is my witness, to you
Til eternity comes,
I will pour out my heart
To you!

(refrain)
I will pour out my heart to you
As He poured out His life for me.
Consecrated with you in love,
Set apart we will be

I'm preparing a place in my heart
As He's preparing a dwelling above.
And together we'll find,
One in spirit and mind,
The fullness of heaven-sent love

And together we'll find,
One in spirit and mind,
The fullness of heaven-sent love!
